El Salvador's government is nearing 8,000 Bitcoin in holdings.
Odaily reported on September 17 that the government held a total of 7,777 Bitcoin as of that day. The stash was worth about $594 million at current prices.
The government's average purchase price was about $55,718 per Bitcoin. Its unrealized gain stood at about $162 million, implying a return of roughly 37%.
El Salvador has continued buying Bitcoin at the government level since becoming the first country in the world to adopt the cryptocurrency as legal tender in 2021. The country has recently been known to have purchased one Bitcoin a day for 916 consecutive days.
