Nvidia’s Jensen Huang Says Chip Unit Sales to Double Next Year on AI Demand

Nvidia Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang said semiconductor unit sales next year will double from this year as investment in artificial intelligence expands.

Huang made the remarks to reporters ahead of the AI Summit in Scotland hosted by King Charles III, CNBC and other media outlets reported on September 17.

"AI is making a very large contribution across industries and the broader economy," Huang said. Nvidia is seeing moves to invest in AI in nearly every country where it operates, he added.

The forecast refers to semiconductor unit volumes, not revenue. Because prices differ by product, a doubling in sales volume would not necessarily produce the same rate of revenue growth. Nvidia does not separately disclose its total semiconductor unit sales.

Nvidia’s product lineup includes data-center graphics processing units, or GPUs, as well as central processing units, switches and optical-networking semiconductors, laptop chips, and Jetson chips for robots and automobiles.

When Nvidia reported second-quarter earnings on August 26, it projected fiscal 2028 revenue of about $673 billion, up 70% from a year earlier. Huang’s latest comments are also bolstering expectations that AI infrastructure investment will continue to expand across countries and industries.
