A summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping is not expected to produce a major economic agreement.
Citing Walter Bloomberg on September 22, The Wall Street Journal reported that Xi is unlikely to be accompanied by a delegation of chief executives from Chinese companies during his Washington visit this week. That is dampening expectations for major business contracts and a broader economic deal.
The two leaders are poised to discuss an extension of their trade truce, as well as artificial intelligence and rare earths. Some progress on tariffs is also possible.
The visit would be Xi's first trip to Washington in 11 years.
