President Donald Trump is poised to nominate former U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Jay Clayton as the White House’s top artificial intelligence official, CNN reported.

CNN reported on Oct. 2 that Trump is expected to tap Clayton for the White House AI post. The network had previously identified Clayton as a possible contender for the role.

Trump said on Sept. 29 that he was very close to a decision on the AI appointment and would make the nomination within days.

Clayton served as SEC chairman during Trump’s first term.
