Injective co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Eric Chen said an INJ-based exchange-traded fund in the US could launch before 2027.
In a recent interview, Chen told crypto news outlet The Block that he could not give a specific timetable for an INJ ETF launch, but said 2027 was "a little too far away." He added that the process was moving much faster than he had expected.
The US Securities and Exchange Commission currently has two INJ-related ETF applications on file: the 21Shares Injective ETF and the Canary Staked INJ ETF. The two asset managers first submitted their filings last year and refiled amended S-1 registration statements in September.
Injective is also expanding its presence in the regulated US market. Injective Institutional Services obtained SEC-registered transfer agent status in August. Chen called that registration only the beginning and said the company was also pursuing additional licenses.
Injective also implemented its Meridian upgrade on Sept. 24, strengthening features for institutional users. Chen said the upgrade would allow institutions to move beyond pilot-stage on-chain tokenization, asset issuance and collateral use and turn them into live services.
In Europe, Injective has completed the filing of a Markets in Crypto-Assets, or MiCA, white paper for the INJ token. The company is also pursuing partnerships in payments and tokenization with already licensed financial institutions.
