Ahead of its 30th anniversary next year, Mirae Asset Securities is stepping up digital-finance innovation. The firm is expanding services built on algorithm-based robo-advisors and generative artificial intelligence, while also pushing to foster a new investment platform spanning traditional and digital assets through its acquisition of crypto exchange Digital X, formerly Korbit.
Mirae Asset Securities said cumulative subscriptions to its robo-advisor service exceeded 8.5 trillion won and the number of accounts topped 140,000 as of last month. The service was first launched in September 2022. A robo-advisor automatically manages portfolios using computer algorithms. It recommends products and allocation weights based on an investor's risk profile. It also determines buy and sell timing as markets shift and sends alert messages through the MAPS mobile app, formerly M-STOCK, when portfolio adjustment signals are triggered.
Mirae Asset's robo-advisor is especially tailored to personal and retirement-pension management. It offers diversified investment in high-quality global assets and suggests customized portfolios by combining asset-allocation plans that reflect market conditions with individual client characteristics. The company said the service has drawn a positive response from customers unfamiliar with investing who have left pension assets unattended, as well as from those who struggle to manage pension assets on their own.
Mirae Asset Securities is also operating a range of generative AI-based services. Since last year, it has offered AI Issue Check, a service that explains the reasons behind sharp moves in specific stocks in domestic and overseas markets. The goal is to help investors grasp information quickly and make more accurate investment decisions when market volatility is high. Since 2024, the company has also provided a real-time service that translates and summarizes filings from overseas markets favored by Korean investors, including the US, Japan, China and Hong Kong. The service is designed to sharply reduce the time and cost of accessing foreign-market information and help investors make faster and more accurate decisions. Mirae Asset Securities is also supporting a specialist program with KAIST to foster future financial AI experts.
The company said those efforts were recognized last year when it received the AI Service Provider award at the ASOCIO Award 2025, hosted by the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization, or ASOCIO. "The significance lies in the international recognition of our performance in providing differentiated financial services to clients based on leading AI technology and contributing to market development," a Mirae Asset Securities official said.
Mirae Asset Securities is also moving proactively as the digital investment environment changes. Following its acquisition of virtual-asset exchange Digital X, the company is accelerating efforts to build an integrated platform linking traditional assets such as stocks, bonds and funds with digital assets including cryptocurrencies, tokenized securities and real-world assets, or RWAs. Its plan is to let users trade all asset classes in a single app while accessing research and content in the same place. Park Hyeon-joo, chairman of Mirae Asset Group, recently described the initiative as the firm's "Mirae Asset 3.0" strategy and said it aims to grow client assets in its digital-asset division to 150 trillion won.
