Solana Foundation Unveils Solana DvP for Institutions, Targeting Securities Settlement in Seconds

The Solana Foundation has launched an open-source securities settlement program for financial institutions, marking a push to build blockchain-based infrastructure for institutional finance.

Cointelegraph reported on Oct. 6 that the Solana Foundation unveiled Solana DvP. The program provides an open-source API that enables delivery-versus-payment, or DvP, settlement on the Solana blockchain.

In a press release, the foundation said it aims to cut securities settlement times from the current one to two days to seconds. It said settlement risk can be eliminated because asset transfers and payments are completed simultaneously within a single transaction, or not executed at all. The foundation also said it is focused on providing reusable standard infrastructure so financial institutions do not have to develop separate smart contracts.

Loddel D'Souza, JPMorgan's head of digital assets markets, called the settlement standard core infrastructure needed for institutional market participants to operate at scale without settlement risk or counterparty exposure.

Blockchain-based efforts to upgrade financial settlement have been underway for some time. In June 2025, Chainlink, Kinexys and Ondo Finance completed a cross-chain DvP pilot linking Ondo's tokenized U.S. Treasury fund with the Kinexys settlement network.
