Lily Liu, chair of the Solana Foundation, said the core value of asset tokenization lies in expanding investment access to U.S. assets.

BlockBeats reported on October 7 that Liu, speaking at Token2049 in Singapore that day, said tokenization is not about competing with existing retail-investment platforms. Rather, it is about using blockchain to broaden the ways global investors can access U.S. assets.

Liu added that even if the stock market capitalizations of about 160 countries were combined, they would account for only a little more than 5% of global equity market value. That, she said, leaves substantial room for blockchain-based and tokenized assets to grow in the global asset market.

She also offered an upbeat view on cryptocurrencies. While artificial intelligence is attracting investor attention and capital, the crypto market's recovery will continue over the next 12 months, Liu said.
