Sui Logs 40.61 Million Transactions a Second in Off-Chain Test Targeting AI Trading
Summary
- Sui said it recorded throughput of 40,614,180 transactions per second in a stress test of its off-chain channel technology, Sui Tunnel.
- The company said the result was 6.7 times higher than the roughly 6.1 million recorded in July and reflected off-chain transaction performance, separate from the mainnet.
- Mysten Labs said Sui was designed for an era of high-frequency trading by millions of AI agents, and that a verification report from security auditor CertiK will be released within days.
Forecast Trend Report by Period

Layer-1 blockchain Sui said it recorded throughput of more than 40.61 million transactions per second in a stress test simulating high-frequency trading by artificial intelligence agents.
Cointelegraph reported on October 7 that Sui demonstrated its off-chain channel technology, called Sui Tunnel, at the Sui Basecamp event in Singapore. Peak throughput reached 40,614,180 transactions per second, 6.7 times the roughly 6.1 million recorded in a similar test in July.
The figure is separate from on-chain transaction volume handled directly by the Sui mainnet. Sui Tunnel processes individual transactions off-chain and settles the final result on the blockchain when the channel closes. In the test, more than 10,000 tunnels were opened on the mainnet to handle different types of transactions, including payments, gaming and chat.
Adeniyi Abiodun, co-founder and chief product officer at Sui developer Mysten Labs, said no market in the world needs 6 million transactions per second, much less 40 million. Humans do not move that fast, but AI agents do. He said Sui was designed for an era in which millions of AI agents transact every day.
Security auditor CertiK participated in the demonstration as an independent auditor. A verification report on the processing performance is set to be released within days.
