Jesse Pollak, founder of Base, said tokenized stocks and non-dollar stablecoins will lead a future "tokenization supercycle."
In an interview with The Block published on October 9, Pollak said the market is underestimating the potential of non-dollar stablecoins. Base is the blockchain developed by U.S. cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase.
Countries will continue to maintain monetary sovereignty, he said, and users' everyday payments will still mostly be made in their local currencies. On the back of that demand, non-dollar stablecoins could play an important role in the future.
Pollak also highlighted the advantages of tokenized stocks. He said they have expanded access to the stock market, which had been limited, and offer a better experience than conventional stock trading. "Tokenized stocks can be bought and sold 24 hours a day and sent to anyone," he said.
