Meta unveiled a new artificial intelligence model, Muse Wonder, on Oct. 12 that outscored OpenAI’s top AI model on an intelligence index.
According to AI evaluation firm Artificial Analysis, the high-performance version of Muse Wonder, called Full, scored 56 on the AI Intelligence Index. That beat OpenAI’s latest model, GPT-6 Astra, at 53. It was also tied with Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet 5.5 at 56 and trailed Claude Opus 5.5 at 58.
Muse Wonder comes in two versions: a general model available to developers through an application programming interface, and the Full model offered through Meta’s coding tools. The general model scored 52 on the Artificial Analysis index.
Wired said Muse Wonder had put Meta back at the forefront of the AI race. The showing suggests results are beginning to emerge from Meta Superintelligence Labs, or MSL, the company’s AI research unit launched in August last year.
Meta Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg gave a similarly upbeat assessment in an interview with the Financial Times, saying the company had caught up with rivals at the leading edge of AI.
