World, the biometric identity project backed by Sam Altman, has launched a Zoom badge feature worldwide to verify whether meeting participants are real people.

Cointelegraph reported on October 19 that World said its World ID for Zoom service had officially launched on the Zoom Marketplace. The feature analyzes images captured by World’s iris-scanning Orb device, a live selfie and a participant’s video feed. When it confirms that the participant is a real person, it displays a Human Badge visible to other attendees.

World first disclosed its Zoom integration plans in April during a limited beta test with asset manager VanEck. With the full launch, it also selected financial firms including Bain Capital and Pantera Capital as early design partners.

The rollout comes as a string of impersonation incidents involving AI deepfakes has raised concern. In 2024, an employee at engineering firm Arup was tricked into sending about $25 million to fraudsters posing as company executives during a video conference. In February this year, North Korea-linked hackers were also found to have used manipulated video feeds in fake Zoom meetings to persuade employees at crypto and fintech companies to install malware.

In a statement provided to Fortune, World said World ID for Zoom was designed to protect sensitive and important conversations by proving that a real, unique human is attending the meeting.
