Market expectations for a potential merger between Tesla Inc. and SpaceX are rising rapidly.
Walter Bloomberg, an overseas markets news account, reported on Oct. 19 that the market price of a contract on prediction market Kalshi implying Tesla and SpaceX will merge before next February had climbed to about 67%. That is more than double the roughly 30% level seen at the start of this month.
The move came as speculation over a possible merger widened after a recent Tesla filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission highlighted links to SpaceX's board and clauses related to a change of control.
Still, the Kalshi figure is a prediction-market price reflecting participant bets, not an official estimate of the actual odds of a merger. Neither Tesla nor SpaceX has formally announced a merger plan.
