Kalshi, the U.S. prediction-market platform, is partnering with BitGo to support perpetual futures trading using crypto-backed loans.
Bloomberg reported on October 21 that Kalshi recently entered into the partnership for the service. Under the arrangement, clients of Kalshi Prime, the company’s prime brokerage unit, will be able to borrow against cryptocurrencies held at BitGo and use the proceeds as margin for perpetual futures trading on the Kalshi exchange.
The loans will be provided by Kalshi Catalyst, a lending affiliate of Kalshi Prime. Collateral assets will be held at BitGo Bank and Trust, a BitGo unit.
Eligible collateral includes Bitcoin, Ether and stablecoins that comply with the GENIUS Act. Other custodians may be added as partners in the future.
Jeff Bandman, chief executive officer of Kalshi Prime, said the service is designed for clients such as investors who do not want to sell their Bitcoin and Latin American businesses that operate using dollar stablecoins. It is intended to help them fund futures trades while continuing to hold crypto.
Separately, Kalshi Clear, the company’s clearing unit, asked the Commodity Futures Trading Commission last month to allow margin trading for some prediction-market contracts.
