Bitcoin’s price swings have narrowed sharply, pointing to the potential for volatility to expand.
On Oct. 25, on-chain analyst Axel Adler Jr. wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that Bitcoin’s 30-day range between its high and low had narrowed to 6% from 13%.
Bitcoin has traded within a compressed $80,000-to-$86,000 band for nine straight sessions, he said. It rebounded from its 365-day simple moving average, or SMA, the previous day and closed at $80,500, which he described as a new low for the past 30 days.
Volatility compression typically ends with a strong price move, Adler said, identifying $86,000 as the key upside level and the 365-day moving average as the key downside level.
