Brazil’s stock-market slump has been compounded by weakness in the real, widening losses for dollar-based investors.

Cointelegraph, a media outlet focused on virtual assets, reported on October 26 that a $1,000 investment in Brazilian stocks at the close last Friday would now be worth about $835.

That amounts to a loss of about 16.5% based on local share prices.

After accounting for the Brazilian real’s decline and converting the investment back into dollars, its value falls to about $740. That puts the loss in dollar terms at about 26%, reflecting both the drop in stock prices and the currency move.
