Bitcoin Core has disclosed a bug that could allow miners to corrupt data on other nodes and, under certain conditions, cause those nodes to shut down. The vulnerability was classified as low risk.
Cointelegraph, a cryptocurrency-focused media outlet, reported on October 30 that Bitcoin Core had confirmed a bug that could allow miners to corrupt other nodes' undo data.
Undo data is used to reverse the application of previous blocks on the blockchain. The bug was found to affect the integrity of that data.
Bitcoin Core said data corruption could, in extreme conditions, cause a node to shut down. The vulnerability, however, was assessed as low risk.
