Anthropic, the generative artificial intelligence company, is poised to raise as much as $3.5 billion from Japanese investors ahead of its US stock-market debut. That would mark the biggest IPO fundraising in Japan by a foreign company.

The Nihon Keizai Shimbun and other local media reported on Nov. 2 that Anthropic plans to allocate IPO shares to Japanese investors as it targets a Nasdaq listing later this month. The Japan tranche is estimated at up to $3.5 billion.

That would be about 60% more than the IPO proceeds SpaceX raised in Japan when it listed in the US in June. It would also be as much as 2.7 times the total amount raised through IPOs by Japanese companies in the first half of fiscal 2026.

Mizuho Securities will lead the Japan offering. Goldman Sachs Japan, Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities, Rakuten Securities and SBI Securities will also handle subscriptions.

Anthropic, best known as the developer of Claude, is estimated to have a post-listing valuation of as much as $2 trillion. That has put it in focus as one of the biggest offerings in this year's global IPO market.
