Israel has warned U.S. intelligence agencies that Iran may be preparing to use chemical weapons, according to a report. The intelligence has exposed divisions within President Donald Trump’s administration over its credibility and whether Iran is actually preparing an attack.

Walter Bloomberg reported on November 3 that Israel passed intelligence to U.S. agencies indicating Iran could be preparing to use chemical weapons. Some U.S. officials view it as a serious threat, while others suspect Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may be trying to push Washington to resume large-scale military operations.

Officials in Gulf countries have also questioned Israel’s assessment. It remains unconfirmed whether Iran is preparing to use chemical weapons.

U.S. Central Command has drawn up plans for airstrikes that could begin as early as November 4, according to the report. Trump has not yet approved renewed attacks on Iran.

Even as military tensions between the U.S. and Iran persist, diplomatic efforts are continuing to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
