President Donald Trump has no public events scheduled the day after Republicans lost the midterm elections and will attend only private meetings.

The Wall Street Journal reported on November 4 that Trump would remain in Washington, D.C. He is scheduled to attend only a private policy meeting that day. The agenda was not disclosed.

A day earlier, on November 3, Trump gave interviews to several media outlets as votes were being counted in the midterms. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, he acknowledged that the war with Iran had contributed in part to the Republicans’ defeat, but said he did not regret his decision to start the war.

Democrats, meanwhile, won majorities in both the House and the Senate in the midterm elections. Some view Trump as increasingly likely to become a lame duck with more than two years left in his term after Democrats retook control of Congress.
