Thailand has filed a complaint against the operator of cryptocurrency exchange Bitget over allegations of operating without a license. Access to Bitget in Thailand will also be blocked starting next month.

Cointelegraph reported on November 5 that Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission said it had notified the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society to block access to Bitget. The restrictions cover Bitget’s website and mobile application. The SEC also advised users to take any necessary steps regarding assets held on the platform before the block takes effect.

The SEC said Bitget provided cryptocurrency trading services in Thailand from 2022 to 2025 while charging trading fees, and attracted users through a Thai-language website and other channels. The regulator said those activities violated Thailand’s licensing requirements for digital-asset businesses.

The SEC also filed a criminal complaint against BG Limited, Bitget’s operating company, over allegations of unlicensed operations. The case has been submitted to Thailand’s Economic Crime Suppression Division for investigation.

Separately, Thailand’s Ministry of Digital Economy and Society has the authority to restrict access to unlicensed cryptocurrency trading platforms to protect investors and combat financial crime.
