The order for lawmakers to convene at the National Assembly seems to be aimed at discussing and initiating the necessary procedures for the immediate lifting of martial law.

Article 77, Clause 5 of the Constitution states, 'If the National Assembly demands the lifting of martial law with the consent of a majority of its members, the President must lift it.' With a majority of seats, the Democratic Party can unilaterally lift martial law.

The Democratic Party is expected to soon announce its official stance on President Yoon's declaration of martial law. Earlier, President Yoon declared martial law in an emergency statement at the Yongsan Presidential Office, stating, "To eradicate pro-North forces and protect the free constitutional order, I declare martial law."
