President Yoon Suk-yeol announced that he would lift martial law.

On the 4th, President Yoon, through a dialogue with the people, stated, "At 11 PM yesterday, the nation declared martial law in response to the anti-state forces attempting to paralyze national capabilities and destroy the constitutional order of freedom and democracy. However, due to the National Assembly's request for withdrawal, the military was withdrawn. I will lift martial law by utilizing the National Assembly's request through the National Defense Council," he said.

He continued, "However, although the National Defense Council was convened immediately, the quorum for resolution was not yet met due to the early morning hours. As soon as the quorum is met, I will lift martial law," he said, emphasizing, "However, I requested the National Assembly to immediately suspend any reckless actions that paralyze national capabilities through illegal budget cuts and other means."
