[Breaking News] Emergency Martial Law Lifted in Cabinet Meeting at 4:30 AM

The government announced that at around 4:30 AM on the 4th, a Cabinet meeting presided over by President Yoon Suk-yeol decided to lift the emergency martial law. This decision comes approximately six hours after the martial law was declared at 10:25 PM the previous day.

President Yoon declared the intention to lift the emergency martial law through a live broadcast from the Yongsan Presidential Office at 4:27 AM, just before the Cabinet meeting. President Yoon stated, "At 11 PM last night, we declared martial law with a resolute will to save the nation against anti-state forces attempting to paralyze the essential functions of the state and collapse the constitutional order of liberal democracy," and added, "However, due to the National Assembly's demand to lift the martial law, we have withdrawn the military involved in martial law affairs." He further stated, "We will immediately lift the martial law through the Cabinet meeting by accepting the National Assembly's demand."
