President Yoon Suk-yeol announced in a national address on the 7th regarding the martial law situation, "I will leave the future stabilization measures, including my term, to our party." In response, the Democratic Party of Korea stated, "We cannot accept any alternative that maintains the presidency. The only solution is immediate resignation."

Cho Seung-rae, the chief spokesperson of the Democratic Party of Korea, said in a briefing at the National Assembly, "If this is refused, the National Assembly will impeach President Yoon Suk-yeol," he stated.

Chief Spokesperson Cho emphasized, "We cannot allow a traitor to continue performing the duties of the president," adding, "The rebellion caused by President Yoon Suk-yeol is still ongoing, and he may attempt a second or third martial law at any time."

He continued, "We cannot leave the Republic of Korea to face such a crisis. The very existence of Yoon Suk-yeol is putting the Republic of Korea in danger and making the people anxious," he elaborated.

He added, "Once again, I say, the only solution is immediate resignation."

Earlier, President Yoon, in his national address, said, "This declaration of martial law stemmed from the desperation of the president, who is ultimately responsible for state affairs," and added, "However, I deeply apologize for causing anxiety and inconvenience to the people during this process. I sincerely apologize to the people who must have been very surprised."

He also stated, "I will not evade legal and political responsibility regarding this martial law declaration," and emphasized, "There are talks about martial law being invoked again, but let me be clear. There will never be a second martial law."
