Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, is meeting with Prime Minister Han Duck-soo to discuss a 'orderly resignation' roadmap for shortening President Yoon Suk-yeol's term and plans for managing state affairs.
According to political circles on the 8th, the two are expected to exchange views not only on the orderly resignation roadmap but also on the direction of cabinet restructuring and livelihood & economic issues, following the cabinet's collective resignation declaration due to the 'martial law situation.'
After the impeachment motion against President Yoon was dismissed as 'vote not established' the previous day, Han met with reporters at the National Assembly and said, "To minimize confusion, we will push for the president's orderly resignation," adding, "The president will be effectively excluded from duties until resignation, and the Prime Minister will coordinate with the party to ensure smooth state affairs management."
The meeting location has not been finalized, but the People Power Party's central office in Yeouido or the Prime Minister's official residence in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, are being considered.
The previous day, Han also met with the Prime Minister before the impeachment motion vote to discuss current issues.
Han urged the Prime Minister, "Please take more meticulous and stable care of the livelihood economy and state affairs so that the public does not feel anxious."
