"Trump Family Turned to Cryptocurrency Due to Banking Restrictions"

Eric Trump, the son of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, stated that his father will be the most 'pro-cryptocurrency' president in American history.

On the 10th (local time), Eric Trump addressed participants at the cryptocurrency event 'Bitcoin MENA 2024' held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, saying, "My father will be a president who will not allow Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies to be suffocated by over-regulation."

Eric also shared an anecdote about calling his father to congratulate him after the price of Bitcoin surpassed $100,000 (approximately 140 million won) following Trump's nomination of Paul Atkins, known as a pro-crypto figure, as the SEC chairman.

Eric's participation in this event was to promote the cryptocurrency platform company 'World Liberty Financial,' developed by the Trump family in September.

Regarding these remarks, the New York Times (NYT) evaluated that the second Trump administration "will not be as concerned as the first about avoiding potential or perceived conflicts of interest." Previously, during the first term, Trump had declared that he would separate his and his family's business from government affairs.

Eric Trump cited one of the reasons the Trump family ventured into the cryptocurrency business was the cessation of transactions with major financial institutions and companies, including JP Morgan Chase, following the January 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot.

He recalled, "Our family was attacked, and our company was attacked," adding, "The system was truly malicious and drove us to hell." He also stated, "Had we not experienced such attacks, we might not have opened our eyes to the cryptocurrency industry as much as we have now."
