The impeachment motion against President Yoon Suk-yeol was passed in the plenary session of the National Assembly on the 14th. This marks the third time in the history of the constitution that an impeachment motion against a sitting president has been passed by the National Assembly, following former Presidents Roh Moo-hyun (2004) and Park Geun-hye (2016).

In the vote on President Yoon's impeachment motion, out of 300 members of the National Assembly, 204 voted in favor, 85 against, 3 abstained, and 8 votes were invalid, leading to the passage of the impeachment motion. The passage of a presidential impeachment motion requires the approval of at least two-thirds (200 seats) of the total members.

With the passage of President Yoon's impeachment motion, his presidential duties are immediately suspended, and according to the constitution, Prime Minister Han Duck-soo will assume the role of acting president.
