Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Choi Sang-mok stated on the 15th, "As this is a very crucial time that will determine the direction of our economy, I will communicate more closely with the National Assembly."
Choi made this statement during his opening remarks at an emergency economic ministers' meeting held at the Seoul Government Complex.
Regarding the passage of the presidential impeachment motion in the National Assembly the previous day, he said, "The economic team feels a heavy sense of responsibility for the current situation," and added, "We will gather all capabilities from both the public and private sectors to manage the economy as stably as possible."
He emphasized, "As this is a very crucial time that will determine the direction of our economy, I will communicate more closely with the National Assembly," and stressed, "I will sincerely explain the voices of the industry to the National Assembly so that bills such as the semiconductor special law, AI basic law, and power grid special law, which will determine the future fate of our industry, can be processed as much as possible within the year."
He also mentioned, "We will announce the '2025 economic policy direction' jointly with related ministries within the year." This will include content on four policy directions: maintaining external credibility, responding to uncertainties in the trade environment, improving industrial structure, and stabilizing people's livelihoods.
