On the 19th (local time), cryptocurrency-focused media CryptoSlate reported, citing a Chainalysis report, that approximately 61% of this year's cryptocurrency hacking damages (about $2.2 billion) are linked to North Korean hackers.
According to the report, both the scale of hacking damages and the number of incidents (303 cases) have increased compared to the previous year.
Chainalysis stated, "This trend is closely related to the increase in hacking activities by North Korean-linked cybercriminal groups," adding, "There have been 47 incidents related to North Korean hackers this year, with damages amounting to $1.34 billion."
It further explained, "This accounts for about 61% of the total cryptocurrency hacking damages this year, marking a 103% increase compared to last year's damages by North Korean hackers ($660 million)."
