According to the German economic newspaper Handelsblatt on the 30th, Christian Lindner, the former German Federal Finance Minister, stated, "The ECB and the German central bank, Bundesbank, should include cryptocurrencies in their reserves." Lindner pointed out, "Europe should not rely on the United States in this field either."

Lindner's remarks are interpreted as being mindful of President-elect Donald Trump's Bitcoin pledge. During the presidential election, Trump pledged to stockpile Bitcoin as a strategic asset. A strategic asset refers to resources that are expected to face supply shortages in emergencies or are strategically necessary.
