Yoon's Side: "Issuance of Arrest Warrant is Illegal and Invalid... Unacceptable"

Yoon Suk-yeol's legal team stated on the 31st that the court's issuance of an arrest warrant requested by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials is "shocking and utterly unacceptable."

The legal team released a statement after the arrest warrant was issued, saying, "The arrest warrant and search and seizure warrant issued upon request from an investigative body without investigative authority are illegal and invalid," expressing their stance.

The legal team expressed regret, stating, "Requesting an arrest warrant from the Seoul Western District Court, not the Seoul Central District Court where the main trial is expected, is against principles and precedents," and added, "It is difficult to understand the issuance of an arrest warrant despite the legitimate reasons for non-attendance, such as issues regarding investigative authority, as the sitting president."

The Corruption Investigation Office requested an arrest warrant from the Seoul Western District Court at midnight the previous day after President Yoon failed to comply with three summons requests, and Judge Lee Soon-hyung of the Seoul Western District Court issued it in the morning.
