Summary

  • Celsius has filed an appeal after its compensation claim against FTX was dismissed.
  • Celsius claims that the $440 million transferred to FTX should be returned as bankruptcy estate.
  • Celsius has already repaid $2.53 billion to 250,000 creditors and is proceeding with additional repayments.

The bankrupt cryptocurrency lending platform Celsius has appealed the dismissal of its compensation claim against FTX.

According to a report by Cointelegraph on the 2nd (local time), Celsius claims that "FTX executives made baseless derogatory remarks about the company's balance sheet and financial status, leading to a rapid deterioration of the corporate financial condition. FTX should return the $440 million transferred to the corporation as bankruptcy estate."

Judge Dorji, who is in charge of the case, dismissed both the initial compensation claim demanding $2 billion and the amended claim demanding $440 million, but Celsius has decided to continue with the appeal.

According to court filings, Celsius has so far repaid $2.53 billion to 250,000 creditors and plans to proceed with an additional repayment of $127 million.
