On the 21st (local time), according to the virtual asset (cryptocurrency) market insight platform Unfolded, Mark Uyeda, the Acting Chairman of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), announced the launch of a new virtual asset task force (TF).

This TF will be responsible for establishing a comprehensive and clear regulatory framework for virtual assets, and SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce is expected to lead the TF.

Regarding this, the SEC stated, "So far, we have regulated virtual assets through enforcement methods, and in this process, unverified legal interpretations have been adopted," adding, "There was a lack of clarity and practical solutions regarding the scope of registration, resulting in confusion about legality and creating an environment that fosters fraud."

Furthermore, "The SEC can provide better regulation," explaining that "the TF will operate within the legal framework provided by Congress and will collaborate with federal departments and agencies, including the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), as well as international organizations."

The TF is expected to conduct related roundtable meetings in the future.
