Summary

  • Bill Gates' remarks have led to a strong performance in quantum computer-related stocks.
  • Companies related to quantum computers such as Xgate, KCS, ICTK, and Coweaver have shown notable increases.
  • The prospect of commercialization of quantum computer technology is sending positive signals to the market.

Quantum computer-related stocks are showing strength. This is due to Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, opposing the remarks made by Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, who stated that it would take a long time for quantum computers to become commercialized.

As of 9:05 AM on the 4th, Xgate is trading at 7,860 won, up 560 won (7.67%) from the previous day. Xgate, which primarily operates in network security solutions and control services, is considered a quantum computer-related stock as it develops virtual private network (VPN) technology based on quantum cryptography.

Additionally, companies such as KCS (7.14%), which has a history of developing quantum cryptography chips jointly with SK Telecom, ICTK (5.8%), which commercialized the world's first security chip applying next-generation physical unclonable function (PUF) and quantum-resistant cryptography (PQC) technology, and Coweaver (4.25%), which develops security solutions and devices applying quantum cryptography and PQC technology, are also showing strength.

The strength of quantum computer-related stocks is attributed to Gates' appearance on Yahoo Finance's podcast on the 3rd (local time), where he stated, "Within the next 3-5 years, one of the quantum computer technologies will be able to obtain enough qubits to solve very difficult problems." He also directly targeted CEO Jensen Huang, saying, "He might be wrong."

Following these remarks, IonQ rose 5.01% and Rigetti Computing rose 2.28% in the New York stock market overnight.
