Google Cloud, under global big tech Google, is accelerating its digital asset business.

Richard Widmann, Google Cloud's Global Head of Digital Assets Strategy, attended the 'Consensus Hong Kong 2025' session at the Hong Kong Convention Centre (HKCEC) on the 20th (local time) and stated, "Digital assets are an 'infrastructure revolution'" and that "(the digital asset industry) is changing how we move value, not just information." Widmann emphasized that "our goal is to naturally connect global enterprises to Web3" and that "Google will serve as both a platform and incubator in the Web3 industry."

Widmann emphasized the simplification of Web3 user experience (UX). He stated, "(Google Cloud) launched 'Web3 Portal' last year" and that "the (portal's) goal is to be an entry point to bring general users into Web3." He added that they will "make (digital asset) UX as intuitive as using Google."

A Google-centered digital asset ecosystem support program was also mentioned. John Mullin, MANTRA (OM) Co-founder and CEO, who participated in the session, announced the launch of an accelerator program focused on Real World Assets (RWA) in collaboration with Google Cloud. Mullin said, "(The program) will provide funding, technology, and infrastructure support" and that it is "a support program for early-stage developers and startups."

Regarding Google's Web3 strategy, Widmann stated they are "not pursuing short-term profits." He explained, "(Google) is a company that can take a long-term approach" and that "our goal is to grow the Web3 ecosystem over an extended period." He added, "Google has a different perspective on the digital asset market compared to other companies" and that "we believe the open-source based financial infrastructure being built by Web3 protocol developers is fundamentally rebuilding the internet."
