Summary

  • The US Senate will hold a digital asset hearing on the 26th and may discuss matters related to Bitcoin strategic reserves.
  • The Bitcoin strategic reserve bill led by Senator Cynthia Lummis is under initial review and awaiting approval from some government departments.
  • It was emphasized that if the US government purchases 4-6 million BTC, it could provide $50-80 trillion in benefits, reduce national debt, and strengthen hegemony in the digital economy.

The US Senate will hold a hearing on the 26th to conduct bipartisan discussions on digital assets. The industry is closely watching the possibility of specific plans or schedules related to Bitcoin (BTC) strategic reserves being partially revealed.

On the 22nd, Forbes Digital Assets reported that "The US Senate will hold a subcommittee hearing on 'Exploring a Bipartisan Legislative Framework for Digital Assets' at 2:30 PM on the 26th (4:30 AM on the 27th, Korea time)."

There is a possibility that discussions about Bitcoin strategic reserves will take place during this hearing. Previously, Senator Cynthia Lummis, who has been pushing for the Bitcoin strategic reserve bill, mentioned on her X (formerly Twitter) regarding the upcoming hearing, saying "and so it ₿egins."

According to the media, Digital Asset (Cryptocurrency) Czar David Sacks also stated that "Bitcoin reserves are under initial review" and "waiting for approval from some government departments."

Additionally, Strategy CEO Michael Saylor argued that "if the US government purchases 4-6 million BTC within 12 months, it could provide US taxpayers with $50-80 trillion in benefits." He emphasized that this could reduce US national debt and strengthen US hegemony in the digital economy.

Furthermore, the hearing is expected to discuss digital asset-related regulations and bills besides the Bitcoin strategic reserve bill.

The media added, "Senator Lummis is pushing for a bill to purchase 1 million BTC over five years," and "if the US government formalizes Bitcoin reserves, it could lead to a price surge as Bitcoin's scarcity becomes more prominent."
