Global cryptocurrency exchange Bybit has secured an additional $1.23 billion (approximately 1.7 trillion won) worth of Ethereum (ETH).
Blockchain analytics firm Lookonchain announced through its official X (Twitter) account on the 24th that "Bybit has secured 446,870 Ethereum through loans, purchases, and whale deposits since the hack." The secured Ethereum is worth $1.23 billion. Lookonchain stated that "Bybit has recovered almost all of its losses."
Bybit recently lost $1.46 billion (approximately 2 trillion won) worth of cryptocurrencies in a hacker attack. This is the largest cryptocurrency hack in history, surpassing the Mt. Gox incident in 2014 ($470 million) and the Poly Network incident in 2021 ($611 million). Industry experts believe North Korean hacking group Lazarus is behind the attack.
