Citi: "Possibility of US Digital Asset Stockpiling Increases... Influenced by Trump's Remarks"
Summary
- Citibank stated that the possibility of US digital asset stockpiling has increased due to President Donald Trump's remarks.
- President Trump mentioned plans to include Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, and other digital assets in strategic reserve assets.
- Citibank indicated that the US government is likely to purchase digital assets in the open market, warning about the importance of providing advance information.

Analysis suggests that the possibility of the United States stockpiling digital assets (cryptocurrencies) has significantly increased following President Donald Trump's mention of strategic reserves for digital assets.
According to CoinDesk on the 3rd (local time), Citibank stated in a report, "Following President Trump's announcement, the possibility of the US strategically stockpiling digital assets has greatly increased," adding that "Trump's remarks will further strengthen the institutional legitimacy of digital assets."
The bank continued, "Most digital assets currently held by the US government are Bitcoin (BTC) confiscated through criminal enforcement," and assessed that "the US government is likely to enter the open market to purchase other digital assets for stockpiling."
However, Citi noted, "It is unclear what criteria were used to select the digital assets included in the reserves," adding that "clarifying this would gain greater trust in the market." They also warned that "if (government) investment directions are announced in advance, the market may price this in, potentially causing prices to fall later."
Previously, President Trump expressed through Truth Social his intention to include Bitcoin, Ethereum (ETH), Ripple (XRP), Solana (SOL), and Cardano (ADA) in strategic reserve assets.
