"We plan to complete the development of a test platform for managing the total volume of token securities by June and launch it."

Lee Soon-ho, President of Korea Securities Depository, said at the '2025 First Half CEO Press Conference' held in Yeouido, Seoul on the 6th, "With the emergence of the token securities market and the incorporation of virtual assets into the institutional framework, radical changes in the financial market are expected to bring significant changes to the central securities depository (CSD) industry as well."

Token securities use blockchain technology, which is also used in cryptocurrencies. President Lee said, "The Depository will take on the role of managing the total issuance and circulation volume of token securities," adding, "In line with discussions on amendments to the Electronic Securities Act and the Capital Markets Act, we will first build a related testbed and then transition to an actual operating environment when the relevant laws institutionalizing token securities are implemented."

Companies that will issue tokens on the test platform include three securities firms - Mirae Asset Securities, Hana Securities, and Shinhan Investment Securities - as well as two fractional investment operators, Funble and Tessa, and Koscom.
