FIFA Pushing to Issue Its Own Digital Asset 'FIFA Coin'

Gianni Infantino, President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), announced on the 7th (local time) that he is pushing to launch a digital asset (cryptocurrency) called 'FIFA Coin' utilizing the FIFA brand.

According to Bitcoin.com, President Infantino revealed FIFA's plans to pursue digital asset business at a virtual asset summit held at the White House that day.

At the event, he said, "The potential of the football industry is enormous worldwide," adding, "During my tenure, FIFA wants to develop FIFA Coin and start it in the United States."

He also proposed that digital asset industry officials join the FIFA Coin project. President Infantino emphasized, "I am not a digital asset expert," and "If anyone here is interested, I hope you will collaborate with FIFA. We will start FIFA Coin in the United States and innovate the football industry."
