Donald Trump has reignited the tariff war with Canada.

On the 11th (local time), President Trump announced through Truth Social, "Canada has imposed a 25% tariff on electricity exported to the United States," adding, "I have directed an additional 25% tariff on Canadian steel and aluminum." As a result, starting from the morning of the 12th (local time), Canadian steel and aluminum will be subject to a 50% tariff.

Trump also emphasized, "Canada must immediately eliminate anti-American agricultural tariffs on U.S. dairy products, which range from 250% to 390%. This is an unfair measure," adding, "If Canada does not eliminate other tariffs as well, I will significantly increase tariffs on Canadian automobiles." He further added, "Canada's automobile manufacturing industry will completely collapse."

He also pointed out Canada's security issues. Trump stated, "Canada relies on U.S. military protection. The scale exceeds $200 billion annually," suggesting that Canada should join as America's 51st state. He elaborated, "This would eliminate all tariffs and significantly reduce taxes for Canadian citizens," adding, "It would become a safer country both militarily and in all other aspects."

Finally, he said, "I will declare a national emergency for regions that receive electricity from Ontario (Canada)," and that "The United States will take swift action to respond to Canada's unfair threats."

Following these remarks, Bitcoin (BTC) also declined slightly. Bitcoin, which had been trading at around $80,800, fell by up to 2.2% after the comments, reaching $79,058. Ethereum (ETH) and Solana (SOL) also fell by up to 2.75% and 3.28% respectively.
