Press Conference at 2 PM in Front of Seoul High Prosecutors' Office

President Yoon Suk Yeol's legal representatives announced they will hold a press conference on the 13th. They are expected to share their views on the ongoing controversy following the court's decision to cancel President Yoon's detention.
The President's legal team stated through a media notice, "We will hold a press conference at 2 PM in front of the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office," adding that "the topics will include the statements by the Director of Court Administration and the dismissal of impeachment."
Cheon Dae-yeop, Director of Court Administration, said at the National Assembly the previous day, "I understand the immediate appeal period is 7 days. I believe the period remains until Friday (the 14th)," and added, "Since (President Yoon) is not currently detained, there are no particular obstacles to making legal judgments according to the immediate appeal."
Director Cheon's remarks were interpreted as suggesting that the prosecution should seek the judgment of the Seoul High Court, a higher court, through an immediate appeal.
Kwon Sung-dong, floor leader of the People Power Party, criticized Director Cheon's remarks during a meeting at the National Assembly, saying, "Although it's merely Director Cheon's personal opinion, as the Director of Court Administration who oversees the administrative affairs of the judiciary, he is damaging the independence of the judiciary and the stability of the judicial system," calling it "an extremely reckless statement."
In contrast, Democratic Party lawmakers visited the Supreme Prosecutors' Office in Seocho, Seoul, to protest and urge the prosecution to file an immediate appeal against the cancellation of President Yoon's detention.
