With $3.29 billion (approximately 4.7879 trillion won) worth of Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) options expiring today, there is a possibility of increased short-term volatility.
On the 14th, cryptocurrency specialized media CoinPaprika reported, "As a large volume of Bitcoin and Ethereum options expire today, short-term price volatility is expected to increase." They further analyzed, "Despite positive economic indicators announced earlier this week, many traders still feel uncertainty about Bitcoin's future movements."
Particularly in the options market, there is a notable shift from short-term bullish bets to more conservative long-term call options. The media added, "Despite challenging market conditions, the put/call ratio generally suggests an optimistic trend," adding that "this shows many traders are still keeping the possibility of a rebound in mind."
Meanwhile, a call option refers to the right to buy a specific underlying asset at a predetermined strike price. Call option buyers can profit by the difference if the market price of the underlying product is higher than the predetermined strike price at expiration. Conversely, a put option means the right to sell an asset at a predetermined strike price.
Additionally, the put/call ratio is an indicator that shows the volume of put options purchased compared to call options. The interpretation of put/call ratio movements can vary depending on market conditions.
