"Through 'Razer ID Verified by World ID,' we will create a pleasant gaming environment free of AI and bots for gamers"

Gaming gear brand Razer announced on the 17th (local time) that it has launched 'Razer ID Verified by World ID' by integrating its single sign-on (SSO) system 'Razer ID' with blockchain-based identity verification protocol World's 'World ID' to strengthen gamer authentication and address AI and bot issues in games.

In an interview with BloomingBit, Wei Pin Choo, Razer's Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), stated, "The gaming environment is rapidly changing due to AI technology advancements. The core goal of this collaboration is to ensure gamers can compete fairly with real humans, not AI."

Gaming Ecosystem Disrupted by AI and Bots... "Solving with 'Human Authentication' Applied to Razer ID"

Recently, gamers' frustrations have grown as AI-based auto-play and hacking have surged. According to a survey commissioned by World, 7 out of 10 gamers (70%) responded that "AI bots are ruining multiplayer games," and 20% have abandoned games due to AI bot issues.

CCO Wei Pin Choo explained, "With AI technology advancing rapidly, gamers are in a situation where it's difficult to know if their opponents are even human. Razer ID aims to create an environment where gamers can play fairly without AI bots. It will be a key tool for increasing trust in games, not just a simple login system."

He added, "That's why we've partnered with World, which provides Proof of Personhood (PoP) services. By integrating with World ID, we can more clearly verify the identity of game users and effectively block AI and cheaters. This will significantly enhance the credibility of Razer ID users."

He continued, "Razer ID is already a core service in the Razer ecosystem, integrated with payment service 'Razer Gold' and game optimization software 'Cortex'. We plan to develop it into a system that guarantees human authentication within the Razer ecosystem."

Linking with Web3 Games... "Exploring Future Collaboration with Web2 Gaming Platforms"

Razer is exploring connections with Web3 and blockchain-based games through this collaboration. In particular, they plan to accelerate these plans by implementing Razer ID in the Web3 game 'Tokyo Beast,' scheduled for release in May.

CCO Wei Pin Choo stated, "Tokyo Beast is a Web3 game that includes token and staking features, making it essential to block AI and bot intrusions. We will expand Razer ID to more Web3 games." He added, "In the future, we will also explore collaborations with existing Web2 game companies."

He took a cautious stance regarding the possibility of issuing their own tokens and entering the Web3 business. "Razer has great interest in Web3 games and blockchain technology. However, we have no plans to issue separate tokens," he said. "Since virtual assets are a key element in Web3 games, we will focus on supporting them."

He also addressed concerns about personal information leakage during the identity verification process. Tiago Sada, Chief Product Officer (CPO) of Tools for Humanity (TFH), who joined the interview, emphasized, "World ID linked to Razer ID only verifies whether a user is human. World ID does not request or store additional personal information."

He added, "World ID is designed so that one person can only authenticate one account, blocking attempts to create multiple accounts for improper use. Razer ID users linked with World ID will be given a 'Human Badge,' allowing gamers to prove they are human in-game."
