Microsoft (MS) has released a report warning of a new malware attack targeting major cryptocurrency platforms including Coinbase and MetaMask wallets.
According to cryptocurrency media Coindesk on the 18th (local time), the malware is called StilachiRAT, a type of Remote Access Trojan (RAT).
This malware possesses sophisticated techniques that evade detection while stealing sensitive data, and can steal various personal information including wallet information and usernames and passwords stored in Google Chrome browser.
In particular, more than 20 cryptocurrency wallets have been identified as targets, including Coinbase, MetaMask, Phantom, OKX Wallet, and BNB Chain Wallet.
Currently, the entity behind StilachiRAT has not been precisely identified, and Microsoft has advised users to strengthen security measures such as software security updates and caution against phishing links.
