Trump on Reciprocal Tariffs: "Open to Negotiation if We Can Gain Something"

"Pharmaceutical Tariffs to be Announced Soon"

U.S. President Donald Trump stated regarding negotiations on reciprocal tariffs, "I am open to it if we can gain something." On the 28th (local time), President Trump, speaking to reporters aboard his private plane en route to Florida, said, "If we can gain something from negotiations, it is possible," as reported by the White House press pool. When asked if negotiations could occur before the reciprocal tariff announcement scheduled for the 2nd of next month, he replied, "No, probably after that." President Trump added that tariffs on pharmaceuticals would be announced soon. When asked if the tariff rate on pharmaceuticals would be 15%, he explained, "We are looking for a specific number sufficient for pharmaceutical companies to bring their products (production) to the U.S.," adding, "We do not want to rely on other countries for pharmaceuticals as we did during COVID-19."
