According to The Block, a virtual asset (cryptocurrency) specialist media outlet, on the 7th (local time), he requested the information under the Freedom of Information Act and has filed a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security.
James Murphy's side argued, "Considering the large-scale public and private investment in Bitcoin, the public should know the information about the Bitcoin creator identified by the federal government."
Previously, James Murphy claimed in 2019 that a Department of Homeland Security special agent interviewed four people involved in the creation of Bitcoin and requested related information.
