Former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) strongly opposed a recent report by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), claiming there was a malicious report targeting him.

On the 12th, CZ stated on his X (formerly Twitter), "WSJ really tries hard. Seems like they forgot who went to jail and who didn't," adding, "People who become government witnesses don't go to jail. They are protected." He further added, "I also heard that someone paid WSJ staff to tarnish me."

Previously, on the 11th (local time), WSJ reported that Changpeng Zhao provided testimony against Justin Sun during a plea deal with the U.S. Department of Justice. There were also suspicions that CZ received sentence reduction benefits in exchange for cooperating with the authorities.
