According to foreign media such as AFP and Reuters on the 13th (local time), President Trump stated on Air Force One that tariffs on semiconductors will be "implemented in the near future."
When asked about the semiconductor tariff rates, he replied, "I will announce it next week." He also mentioned that there will be "some flexibility for some companies" regarding semiconductor tariffs, but added, "It's not certain." He also said that tariffs on iPhones will be "announced soon" and that "some flexibility will be needed."
Earlier that day, President Trump reaffirmed his stance on imposing tariffs by stating on his social media (SNS) that semiconductors and other electronic products are not exempt from tariffs. He also reiterated his opposition to the acquisition of US Steel by Japan Steel, saying, "I don't want US Steel to go to Japan."
Additionally, regarding Iran, which recently resumed high-level nuclear negotiations with the U.S. after 10 years, he said, "A decision will be made soon."
